Economic Recovery for Paulding County
Being a local business owner in Paulding County, I’m constantly looking at local economic indicators. Generally speaking, Georgia appears to be on track with the national growth forecasts. Paulding County deserves a much closer look. Prior to the 2009 recession, Paulding County had long been considered the best of the west in terms of growth and sustainability in Metro Atlanta. State maps began using bolder print for Hiram and Dallas as far back as the late 1980’s. Prior to that, Paulding was still comprised mostly of small residential developments and farmland. In the 1990’s, Paulding County was causing more than a twinkle on the metro radar. Many builders set up in Paulding and prospered during the boom that lasted well into 2003. The country was beginning to show signs of a slowdown and the swollen west side of Atlanta felt the pain. The good news is that Paulding County has always been resilient and during the recent recession, the region never lost consciousness. Quietly, the commercial potential of Paulding County has been locking in and the foundation is ready to lead the state in growth again. Residential growth tends to pull commercial growth like a tugboat in shallow waters, but when your trends are lead by commercial growth, residential growth is the natural side effect.
